Fluid Systems Design Engineer III: Upper Stage

We're seeking a highly skilled Fluid Systems Design Engineer III to join our team at Blue Origin. This role will be responsible for leading the design, development, and testing of fluid systems for our New Glenn launch vehicle.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in complex fluid systems design. They will be responsible for designing and routing fluid subsystems, creating and owning development, acceptance, and qualification test activities, and working closely with other groups to ensure system integration.

The Fluid Systems Design Engineer III will use their expertise in fluid components, such as valves, pressure vessels, and instrumentation, to design and develop high-performance fluid systems. They will also be responsible for working with 3D CAD programs and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs to deliver completed designs and analysis reports.

As a key member of our team, the Fluid Systems Design Engineer III will contribute to the development of reusable rockets and help us achieve our mission of making humanity a multi-planetary species.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop fluid systems for New Glenn launch vehicle
  • Lead the design, development, and testing of fluid systems
  • Work closely with other groups to ensure system integration
  • Use expertise in fluid components to design and develop high-performance fluid systems
  • Work with 3D CAD programs and FEA programs to deliver completed designs and analysis reports

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in complex fluid systems design
  • Strong background in fluid components, such as valves, pressure vessels, and instrumentation
  • Experience working with 3D CAD programs and FEA programs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a rapid and scrappy hardware development environment
  • Experience with cryogenic systems (LOX and LH2)
  • Experience in designing for low-cost manufacturing
