JOB PURPOSE

This position is centered on providing technical leadership for all Non-Wovens coating line operations while fostering a strong, cohesive technical team that drives transformation within our manufacturing and engineering divisions. The role entails enhancing mechanical processes, developing strategies for escalation mitigation, and ensuring effective emergency response protocols.

The Coating Process Engineer will collaborate with operational teams to deepen their understanding of processes, emphasizing the transition from reactive to proactive problem-solving on Non-Wovens coating lines. This individual will spearhead the innovation and development of project components, focusing on the manufacturing processes, technologies, and procedures essential for product creation. The Process Engineer serves as a technical authority, resolving intricate technical challenges using established and potentially novel methodologies.

The Process Engineer is recognized as an expert in the design, implementation, and optimization of process areas within their domain of expertise. This role will involve working closely with TPM Leaders in manufacturing facilities to prioritize critical loss reduction initiatives and contribute significantly to TPM projects. The individual will analyze performance metrics and statistics to enhance production efficiencies, identifying potential issues and addressing them proactively to minimize losses. The Process Engineer will formulate comprehensive recommendations for process modifications, enhancements, and performance benchmarks.

Direct Influence: No direct reports, but will exert influential technical leadership across various Non-Wovens sites as needed.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Non-Wovens Engineering Leader.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Initiatives
  • Promotes a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Identifies and implements best practices throughout the company.
  • Adheres to company policies for documenting hazards and incidents.
  • Implements a personal safety action plan.
Technical Expertise
  • Acts as the subject matter expert for Non-Wovens coating processes, continuously enhancing knowledge for self and team members.
  • Integrates extensive company experience with deep technical insights.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of specific technologies and systems, identifying opportunities for new technology implementation.
  • Addresses complex problems through thorough analysis of multiple factors.
  • Independently identifies critical issues and deviations, alerting plant teams with actionable plans.
  • Analyzes and interprets research to recommend effective solutions.
  • Enhances understanding of product/process interactions through comprehensive system-level insights.
  • Supports the creation of global process documentation in collaboration with facilities and other departments.
Manufacturing Productivity Enhancement
  • Establishes clear and measurable performance expectations across the network.
  • Collaborates with Technical Leaders to develop project plans aimed at bridging performance gaps.
  • Works with technical teams to resolve quality issues in Non-Wovens mat sites.
  • Develops procedures to monitor and respond to increases in plant losses.
  • Plays a key role in root cause analysis teams during process-related escalations.
  • Reviews RCA findings to ensure comprehensive identification of potential causes.
  • Supports and leads initiatives for new line vertical startups.
Relationship Building
  • Fosters strong connections with manufacturing, technical resources, and excellence teams to influence outcomes across Non-Wovens operations.
Communication Skills
  • Mentors junior team members by conveying advanced technical information and providing specialized guidance.
  • Builds productive relationships internally and externally.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing process engineering, preferably in the paper industry or other continuous manufacturing processes.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with material characterization and project management.
  • Understanding of TPM, quality tools, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
