We are currently looking for a seasoned HVAC Mechanical Engineer to enhance our team within the rapidly expanding Energy Engineering sector. The ideal candidate will possess 7-10 years of experience in designing and engineering commercial building HVAC systems, conducting energy evaluations, and performing energy savings calculations. Familiarity with commercial HVAC system design and the ability to identify operational challenges and potential Energy Conservation Measures is essential. You will have the opportunity to engage in various projects related to HVAC systems and building operations, including MEP design, commissioning, retro-commissioning, energy audits, and troubleshooting building operations.
Your Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design and engineering of HVAC systems for commercial properties, emphasizing energy efficiency and optimization.
- Conduct energy evaluations and perform savings calculations, identifying and implementing Energy Conservation Measures.
- Provide leadership on a variety of projects, including MEP design, commissioning, retro-commissioning, energy audits, and troubleshooting building operations.
Key Duties:
- Focus on Mechanical Engineering and Design within the commercial, healthcare, and federal HVAC design sectors.
- Support the engineering development and design of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection construction documents for new buildings and renovations.
- Possess a thorough understanding of Mechanical Engineering Design and improvements for large-scale commercial and federal HVAC systems.
- Work under the guidance of the Manager/Engineer from project inception through to construction completion.
- Engage in engineering design and drafting activities, specification writing, cost estimating, field investigations, and construction site visits.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct site visits, support energy savings calculations, and develop cost budgets and written descriptions of energy conservation measures.
- Assist in the design of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems for new and renovated buildings.
- Support studies and analyses of mechanical and plumbing systems, documenting conditions and presenting cost-effective solutions.
- Perform code research to support project development.
- Stay updated on current technologies and emerging trends in the field.
- Develop a working knowledge of central plants, HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, air handlers, and variable speed drives.
- Conduct job site visits to verify existing construction conditions and document contractor work.
- Assist with engineering calculations for equipment and systems sizing.
- Perform building cooling and heating load calculations using computer modeling programs.
- Assist with energy audits to document existing conditions and identify energy conservation opportunities.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time, including overnight trips.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in commercial HVAC systems design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Trane Trace & Carrier HAP Software, and MS Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience in MEP (HVAC) Design with the ability to quickly adapt to the position's requirements.
- Effective interaction across organizational boundaries to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with building mechanical systems.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent engineering, analytical, and technical writing skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in computer software for word processing and spreadsheet analysis.
- AutoCAD experience is required.
