Role Overview:
The Chatham Group, a leader in Advanced Materials and Technologies recruitment, is on the lookout for exceptional candidates for a Coatings Research Scientist role with a reputable client in the Greensboro, NC vicinity. This position is designed for an individual contributor who will significantly influence the creation and refinement of innovative wood coatings products. Candidates should possess a solid foundation in chemistry and materials science to facilitate groundbreaking advancements in this specialized domain. Preferred qualifications include a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline, along with 3-7+ years of experience in the coatings sector, ideally with a focus on wood coatings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and formulate novel wood coating products that align with market demands for performance, environmental standards, and cost efficiency.
- Enhance existing wood coating formulations to improve their performance and sustainability metrics.
- Perform comprehensive testing and analysis, including physical, chemical, and application assessments, to ensure product integrity and effectiveness.
- Engage in cross-departmental collaboration with teams such as Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Production Engineering, and Marketing on various initiatives.
- Conduct market analysis to remain informed about technological innovations and industry trends in the wood coatings market.
- Foster a culture of meticulous documentation to facilitate patent applications and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Participate in workshops, conferences, or training sessions to establish expertise in wood coatings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 3-7+ years of experience in the coatings industry, with a preference for direct experience in wood coatings.
- Strong foundational knowledge in formulation chemistry and organic chemistry.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a dynamic team environment.
- Excellent skills in reporting, technical writing, and documentation.
Compensation will be based on experience, and relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
