Position Overview

The Hall County Sheriff's Office is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Deputy Sheriff.

ROLE SUMMARY:

  • Engage in a variety of law enforcement activities such as patrolling designated areas, investigating incidents, ensuring courtroom security, and upholding legal statutes.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations and remain prepared for unexpected and hazardous scenarios.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successfully complete a Physical Agility Test required for sworn personnel.
  • Perform essential law enforcement functions, which may include running, climbing, and physical intervention techniques.
  • Maintain consistent attendance as a fundamental requirement.

When Assigned to Patrol Division:

  • Monitor assigned territories, respond to emergency calls, assist in accident management, and promote traffic safety.

When Assigned to Traffic Unit/DUI Task Force:

  • Conduct investigations into traffic incidents, enforce traffic regulations, and manage hit-and-run situations.

When Assigned to Court Services Division:

  • Ensure security during court sessions, oversee detainees, and deliver legal documents.

When Assigned to Jail Division:

  • Handle inmate documentation, mediate conflicts, and enforce institutional regulations.

When Assigned to Warrant Unit:

  • Investigate and apprehend wanted individuals, provide testimony in court, and support other operational units.

When Assigned to ADVANCE Unit:

  • Educate participants on various subjects, prepare instructional materials, and engage in community outreach initiatives.

When Assigned to Lake Patrol Unit:

  • Promote boating safety, enforce relevant laws, and collaborate with associated agencies.

When Assigned to K-9 Unit:

  • Partner with K-9 units in diverse operations, including search and rescue missions.

EQUIPMENT UTILIZED:

Includes firearms, police radios, speed detection devices, among others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Experience is not a prerequisite.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Possession of Georgia POST Basic Law Enforcement Certification and a valid driver's license is mandatory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must successfully complete the agency's Physical Ability Assessment and possess a solid understanding of law enforcement protocols and regulations.

ADA Minimum Qualifications:

Physical Capability: Requires physical agility and the ability to manage high-stress situations.

Sensory Requirements: Effective verbal and written communication skills, along with visual acuity.

Environmental Conditions: Ability to work in a variety of settings and circumstances.
