Job Description

Overview

The Coatings Application Specialist is responsible for the application of various coatings and fireproofing materials, ensuring high-quality finishes and adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize conventional, airless, and plural spray systems for coating applications.
  • Employ brushes and rollers for precise paint application.
  • Operate equipment including blast pots and spray guns effectively.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of diverse painting techniques and applications.
  • Maintain consistent millage during spraying processes.
  • Understand and apply various blasting techniques.
  • Prepare surfaces adequately for coating applications.
  • Mix paints and fireproofing substances to achieve desired consistencies.
  • Interpret drawings and blueprints accurately.
  • Ensure safe operation of construction tools and equipment.
  • Perform grinding, sanding, and polishing tasks as required.
  • Conduct painting, caulking, and sealing operations.
  • Carry out field inspections, including Blast Profile, WFT, and DFT assessments.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Experience Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in painting and/or fireproofing coatings.
  • Proficiency with conventional, airless, and plural spray systems.
  • Experience in applying paint using brushes and rollers.
  • Familiarity with epoxy, polyurethane, and high solids coatings is advantageous.
  • Ability to apply various coatings using different methods.
  • Capability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Training in operating a man lift and working at heights.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands for this position include:

  • Regularly standing, walking, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Climbing vertical ladders frequently.
  • Engaging in talking, hearing, and using hands for handling tasks.
  • Occasionally lifting and/or moving weights up to 100 pounds.
Mental Requirements
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills for basic calculations and data interpretation.
  • Common sense reasoning to address straightforward problems.
Work Environment

The work environment includes:

  • Exposure to high places and varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
  • Working in a loud environment with machinery and equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Job Requirements: Background Check, Drug Test, and Physical Examination. Candidates must pass a Respirator Fit Test upon hire and annually thereafter. Preferred certifications include NCCER in coatings and Fireproofing Certification.
