We are seeking a dedicated Charge Entry Specialist to join our team in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of billing processes. This role is essential for capturing all charges associated with patient care and ensuring that billing information is precise and compliant with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Input billing and insurance data into the electronic system accurately.
  • Oversee the entry of patient demographics and ensure all necessary authorizations are secured.
  • Accurately record charge codes, operating room times, and surgeon details to facilitate correct billing.
  • Initiate and implement charge corrections as necessary, determining the appropriate actions to rectify billing discrepancies.
  • Promptly communicate any identified inaccuracies or challenges to management to uphold policy and ensure timely charge capture.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of documentation to support charges, demonstrating a solid understanding of medical terminology and coding guidelines.
  • Verify pricing accuracy upon receipt of purchase orders for billable supplies.
  • Manage the receipt of charge tickets from various departments, ensuring all necessary information is included.
  • Request the assignment of new charge codes and their inclusion in the billing fee schedule.
  • Perform daily reconciliations of charges to identify and rectify any missing entries.
  • Review schedules and patient census proactively to ensure all services are accounted for.
  • Engage effectively with nursing staff to resolve any missing or incomplete charges.
  • Utilize appropriate reconciliation tools daily to ensure compliance with billing documentation.
  • Assist in monitoring billing compliance and participate in educational sessions for staff as needed.
  • Support special projects by collecting and summarizing relevant data.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to audit accounts for reimbursement based on billing regulations and medical coding standards.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.
