At Houston Methodist, the role of the Physician Recruiter is pivotal in guiding and assisting executives and department chairs with their high-level physician and leadership talent acquisition requirements. This position is focused on formulating and implementing targeted strategies, collaborating with hiring leaders to fulfill business placement goals by attracting and securing a diverse pool of exceptional talent.
This role involves sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating offers when necessary, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives and business goals of Houston Methodist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consultation and Strategy Development: Engage with senior management and department chairs to define job specifications and candidate criteria, understanding their operational needs, and crafting recruitment strategies to attract talented and diverse candidates.
- Staffing Needs Assessment: Collaborate with departmental clients to identify both short-term and long-term staffing requirements, proactively addressing these needs based on succession planning and turnover forecasts.
- Candidate Screening and Interviewing: Conduct thorough screenings and interviews for executive-level and physician candidates, utilizing advanced assessment tools to ensure a positive experience for both applicants and hiring managers.
- Mentorship: Act as a role model and mentor for peers, identifying opportunities for departmental improvement in turnover, retention, and employee engagement.
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Candidate Sourcing: Utilize innovative recruitment technologies and social platforms to attract both passive and active candidates, while managing all phases of search assignments with executive recruiting firms.
- Recruitment Planning: Develop and execute recruitment plans for physicians, identifying sourcing activities and projecting recruitment costs while considering compensation and labor market dynamics.
- Full-Cycle Recruitment Management: Oversee all aspects of physician recruitment, assessment, and selection, ensuring effective communication with applicants and hiring managers throughout the process.
- Onboarding Coordination: Collaborate with HR to facilitate a seamless onboarding experience for new hires, providing consistent updates to all stakeholders.
Quality and Compliance:
- Hiring Practices: Ensure compliance with employment laws and maintain accurate records in the applicant tracking system, adhering to established hiring procedures.
- Performance Metrics: Recommend metrics and qualitative feedback to project vacancies and regularly report on recruitment performance indicators.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize feedback and data to offer recommendations for enhancing recruitment practices, working closely with management and HR.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
- Experience: Minimum of five years in Human Resources, with at least three years focused on physician and executive recruitment, preferably in a healthcare or academic medicine setting.
- Certifications: Preferred certifications include Certified Internet Recruiter (CIR) and Physician/Provider Recruitment Professional (CPRP).
