Key Responsibilities

The Fleet and Service Manager will oversee the maintenance and repair operations of our fleet and construction equipment. Responsibilities include managing shop personnel, coordinating workflows, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and maintaining high levels of internal customer service.

  • Shop Management: Lead all activities related to shop processes, coordinating repairs and maintenance with mechanics, and generating purchase orders as necessary.
  • Staff Supervision: Allocate work based on repair needs, manage workflow, monitor work volume, and ensure efficient and timely task completion.
  • Troubleshooting: Assist mechanics in diagnosing and repairing equipment issues.
  • Inventory Oversight: Manage parts and supply inventory, research vendors for cost-effective and quality parts, and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Fleet Management: Assess the cost-effectiveness of repairing or replacing equipment, oversee lifecycle management of the fleet, and ensure vehicles and equipment meet safety and functionality standards.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Complete and maintain necessary checklists and inspections, ensure accurate vehicle records, and manage the annual maintenance program using computerized systems.
  • Internal Service: Provide exceptional service by assisting employees with maintenance requests and representing the maintenance team professionally.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain clear communication with shop mechanics, other employees, and company executives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Safety Training: Enforce company safety policies, orient and train new team members, and provide ongoing mentoring to mechanics.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, squat, kneel, and lift objects as needed.
  • Weight Handling: Frequently lift weights up to 50 pounds and occasionally carry, push, or pull similar weights.
Schedule
  • Full-Time Position: This is a full-time role available throughout the year.
  • Typical Hours: Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, with Saturday hours as needed.
  • Overtime: Occasional overtime may be required based on workload.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certificate in automotive or related field preferred. Valid driver's license with a good driving record required; CDL preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of managerial or supervisory experience in a shop or similar environment. At least five years of experience in automotive and small engine repair.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities, proficiency in basic and complex repairs, and familiarity with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
