Key Responsibilities

The Fleet and Service Manager will oversee the maintenance and repair functions of our fleet and construction machinery. Responsibilities include managing shop personnel, coordinating workflows, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of internal customer service.

  • Shop Management: Direct all shop activities, coordinate repairs with mechanics, and manage procurement processes.
  • Staff Supervision: Allocate tasks based on repair needs, monitor workflow, and ensure timely completion of high-quality work.
  • Troubleshooting: Assist mechanics in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
  • Inventory Oversight: Manage parts and supply inventory, research vendors for cost-effective solutions, and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Fleet Management: Assess the cost-effectiveness of repairs versus replacements, oversee fleet lifecycle management, and ensure compliance with safety and functionality standards.
  • Record Maintenance: Complete DOT checklists and inspections, manage vehicle records, and oversee the annual maintenance program using computerized systems.
  • Internal Support: Provide excellent service to employees with maintenance requests and represent the maintenance team professionally.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain clear communication with shop mechanics, staff, and management to enhance efficiency.
  • Safety and Training: Enforce safety policies, orient new team members, and provide ongoing training and mentorship.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and move objects as necessary.
  • Ability to extend arms fully above head and in front of the body.
  • Frequent lifting of weights up to 50 pounds and occasional handling of heavier weights.
Position Details
  • Full-Time Year-Round: This is a full-time position available throughout the year.
  • Typical Hours: Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional Saturday hours.
  • Overtime: May be required based on workload.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in automotive or related field preferred. Valid driver's license with a good driving record required; CDL preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years in a managerial or supervisory role in a shop environment, with at least five years in automotive and small engine repair.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities, proficiency in managing multiple tasks, and familiarity with MS Office applications.
