About Duke Primary Care

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Durham Pediatrics team. The ideal candidate will excel in multitasking, delivering outstanding customer service, and collaborating effectively within a team. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
  • Administer prescribed medications and specialized nursing techniques, including intravenous therapies.
  • Document patient care activities and communicate patient responses to the supervising nurse for evaluation and care plan adjustments.
  • Assist healthcare professionals in various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies to enhance patient comfort and safety.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the maintenance of a safe care environment.
  • Participate in educational programs and assist in onboarding new staff members.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the scope of practice for licensed practical nurses and the ability to delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Strong understanding of patient care principles and practical nursing procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Proficient in basic life support and other relevant certifications.
  • Able to utilize technology for documentation and patient care management.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety in a clinical setting.
