Position Summary:
As a High School English Language Arts (ELA) educator at Uncommon Schools, you will play a vital role in fostering a dynamic and rigorous classroom environment. Your passion for literature and commitment to student engagement will be essential in preparing students for their academic futures. Our curriculum emphasizes reading and student-led discussions, enabling students to develop a profound appreciation for literature and critical thinking skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Duties:
Deliver a comprehensive literature curriculum that highlights inclusive texts and prepares students for Advanced Placement (AP) and collegiate coursework. Guide students through in-depth analyses of works by renowned authors, fostering a love for literature and enhancing their analytical skills. - Student Development:
Encourage independent and collaborative reading, writing, and discussion skills. Facilitate student-led discourse, teaching them to support their arguments with evidence and critically evaluate various perspectives. - Data-Driven Instruction:
Regularly assess student comprehension and writing, adapting lessons to maximize learning outcomes. Collaborate with colleagues to develop effective instructional strategies that support all learners. - Community Engagement:
Build strong relationships with students and their families, ensuring that all students feel valued and supported. Participate in professional development and community-building activities to promote a positive school culture.
Qualifications:

- Academic expertise in Humanities, English, or related fields.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; certification is not required at the time of hiring but must be pursued thereafter.
