Position Overview

The Quad Preparatory School is seeking a dedicated and innovative Middle School English Language Arts Educator for Special Needs to join our team. This role is essential in providing tailored instruction to our middle school students (grades 6-8) in English language arts and literature.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

  • Design and deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons that are customized to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Conduct regular assessments of student progress and adapt instructional strategies accordingly, ensuring effective communication of results to parents.
  • Embrace and implement the school's philosophy of progressive education tailored for twice-exceptional learners.
  • Collaborate with psychosocial educators to integrate executive functioning skills within the academic curriculum.
  • Evaluate and refine curriculum to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Create and maintain a structured and aesthetically pleasing learning environment that supports students' social, emotional, and executive functioning needs.
  • Keep accurate records of student performance using the school's learning management system and maintain portfolios to showcase student progress.
  • Empower students to take ownership of their learning by providing necessary support, resources, and maintaining high expectations for success.
  • Work collaboratively with academic and psychosocial staff to facilitate cross-curricular, inquiry-based projects.
  • Engage with parents and guardians to provide insights into students' academic and social-emotional development through various communication methods.
  • Adhere to the professional standards and policies of the school, promoting its mission in all interactions.
  • Utilize digital tools effectively, particularly Google Suite applications.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in English education, English literature, special education, or a related field.
  • A minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience with upper elementary or middle school students.
Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that will enhance a candidate's application include:

  • Three or more years of experience as a full-time English or special education teacher.
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Special education training, including methodologies for twice-exceptional youth.
  • Experience with developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Teaching credentials in Elementary, Secondary English, or Special Education.
Work Environment

This position is based in a school setting, requiring interaction in various locations within the facility. The role involves active engagement, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting of light items.
