- Market Research and Analysis: Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from industry sources, trade shows, and online research.
- Product Demonstration and Presentation: Display or demonstrate product features, using samples or catalogs, to emphasize salable features and benefits.
- Order Management and Administration: Quote prices and credit terms for orders obtained, estimate delivery dates, and prepare reports of business transactions.
- Customer Support and Service: Work with customers' sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date, track customers' stock levels, and coordinate customer training.
- Quality Control and Assurance: Diagnose quality problems in the field and perform light field service and repairs.
- Additional Responsibilities: Attend trade shows, develop and maintain relationships with purchasing contacts, and investigate and resolve customer problems with deliveries.
- Education and Experience: Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in sales or business, plus 0-1 year of experience in a related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Sales and Business Skills: Sales aptitude, customer-centric approach, problem diagnosis and small repairs, understanding of competitors' products and business practices, and effective communication skills.
- Work Environment and Safety: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, travel frequently, and be vigilant about safety.
