Job Description Summary:


The Principal Finance Analyst plays a vital role in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis, acting as a financial business partner to multiple internal departments.

This role involves supporting departments with complex indirect spending and/or full P&L responsibilities.

Frequent collaboration with internal stakeholders, executive and senior leadership, as well as FP&A management, is essential during budget formulation, variance analysis, forecasting, and operational reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a dedicated finance business partner to internal departments, facilitating the development of budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and expense monitoring.
  • Offer actionable insights that align with the organization's objectives, enhancing departmental reporting and financial analysis under the guidance of FP&A management.
  • Solicit capital budget requests from supported departments, analyze ROI, prioritize requests, and present findings to FP&A management. Once approved, monitor actual expenditures and adjust forecasts as necessary.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance recurring financial reports for senior and executive leadership.
  • Ensure data integrity and validation during month-end close, including transactional research from financial systems and source documents.
  • Mentor less experienced analysts in completing recurring tasks.
  • Identify, initiate, and support various ad hoc analyses and projects as required.
  • Collect and analyze data from various sources, formulate hypotheses and conclusions, and present analytical findings to both FP&A and operational management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional proficiency in Excel for analysis and modeling, alongside financial tools (e.g., Adaptive, Tableau, PeopleSoft, Datawarehouse, etc.).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to engage with all organizational levels.
  • Capable of working efficiently and independently within a team-oriented environment.
  • High accuracy, productivity, and adaptability to manage multiple projects within a deadline-driven context.
  • Familiarity with DOD and other relevant government regulations.
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • A Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:

  • 7-10 years of prior experience in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis is required.
  • Experience as a finance business partner is essential.
