Position Overview

A prominent non-profit organization is in search of a qualified Finance Director to oversee its financial operations. This pivotal role will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will lead a dedicated finance team.

This position is integral to the leadership framework and will be responsible for managing and directing all financial activities of the organization and its subsidiaries.

Core Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures for all financial management activities, ensuring compliance with established accounting standards.
  • Provide management with insights regarding policy decisions, compensation, and operational costs.
  • Encourage a collaborative atmosphere within the finance department, fostering teamwork, professional growth, and a commitment to excellence. Offer strong leadership and mentorship to finance team members to ensure effective performance and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Act as a strategic partner to other departments by delivering financial insights and analysis to support informed decision-making and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the integrity of the financial database, ensuring the accuracy and security of financial data while implementing necessary improvements for enhanced efficiency.

Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, senior leadership, and the Board of Directors to formulate the annual budget for income and expenses. Provide timely financial reporting and recommendations to maintain the organization’s fiscal health.
  • Work closely with leadership and managers to:
  • Analyze and interpret budgets across all funds.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports as required.
  • Ensure robust internal control systems are in place.
  • Guarantee that data collection yields insightful information.
  • Partner with Human Resources to establish policies regarding youth employment, ensuring compliance with labor laws while promoting business income opportunities.
  • Oversee the identification and evaluation of opportunities for enhancing financial operations, recordkeeping, and reporting, while collaborating with external auditors on audit schedules and findings.
  • Continuously assess and refine financial policies and controls in response to organizational growth, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and regulatory requirements.

Resource Management:

  • Lead the planning and development of operating and fund account budgets, monitoring expenditures against these budgets.
  • Ensure the maintenance of financial records and systems to comply with all regulations and accounting practices.
  • Foster a productive and professional environment within finance and accounting functions.
  • Guide organizational planning and development in collaboration with the CEO and department heads.
  • Manage the annual audit process, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Engage with external auditors and the Audit Committee to review audit findings and ensure timely completion of audits.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management within the non-profit sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of the mission and principles of non-profit organizations.
  • Proven ability to organize and direct financial operations and personnel management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities and develop solutions independently.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, board members, and community stakeholders.

Work Environment:

This role is based in an office environment.

Compensation:

The annual salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $140,000, with consideration given to relevant experience, skills, and education.
