Position Overview
A prominent non-profit organization is in search of an experienced Finance Director to oversee their financial operations. This pivotal role will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will lead a dedicated finance team.
This position is essential to the leadership team, responsible for the comprehensive management and execution of all financial activities within the organization and its subsidiaries.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Establish and enforce policies and procedures for all financial operations, ensuring compliance with established accounting standards and internal controls.
- Provide management with insights regarding policy decisions, compensation structures, and operational costs.
- Encourage a collaborative and supportive atmosphere within the finance department, fostering teamwork, professional growth, and a commitment to excellence. Offer strong leadership and mentorship to finance team members to enhance performance and align with organizational objectives.
- Act as a strategic partner to other departments by delivering financial insights, analyses, and support to promote informed decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Oversee the integrity of the financial database, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and security of financial data. Implement necessary improvements to enhance efficiency and support decision-making.
Strategic Planning:
- Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, senior leadership, and the Board of Directors to formulate the annual budget for income and expenses. Provide timely financial reporting and recommendations to maintain the organization’s fiscal health.
- Collaborate with leadership and managers to:
- Analyze and interpret budgets across all funds.
- Prepare and review financial reports on a monthly basis and as required.
- Ensure robust internal control systems are established and maintained.
- Guarantee that data collection yields valuable insights.
- Partner with Human Resources to develop and uphold policies regarding youth employment, ensuring compliance with labor regulations while maximizing opportunities for income generation.
- Identify and assess opportunities for enhancing financial operations, recordkeeping, and reporting, while working with external auditors to prepare and review audit schedules.
- Continuously assess and refine financial policies and controls in response to organizational growth, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
Resource Management:
- Lead the planning and development of operating and fund account budgets, monitoring expenditures against these budgets.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations and accounting practices through diligent maintenance of financial records.
- Foster a productive and professional environment within the finance and accounting teams.
- Guide organizational planning and development in collaboration with the CEO and department heads.
- Manage the annual audit process, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Engage with external auditors and the Audit Committee to review audit findings and ensure timely completion of all audits.
Qualifications and Skills:
- CPA designation preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management within the non-profit sector.
- In-depth knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, and principles of non-profit organizations.
- Proven ability to organize, direct, and coordinate financial operations and personnel management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and develop solutions independently.
- Capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with staff, board members, and community stakeholders.
Work Environment:
This role is primarily office-based.
Compensation:
The annual salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $140,000, with consideration given to relevant experience, skills, and education.
