Role Summary:

The Production Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Die-Cutting, Labeling, Tip-On, and/or Inserting machinery. This position leverages various proprietary and third-party systems to deliver high-quality products. The Production Supervisor collaborates closely with the Production Manager to facilitate the setup and execution of daily operations within the Production Department. This role involves leading a team by distributing workloads effectively and providing the necessary support to achieve production targets. Additionally, this position is entrusted with safeguarding proprietary and PHI information in both digital and physical formats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates training for new and existing Production Associates.
  • Instructs team members on interpreting job tickets and clarifying associated instructions.
  • Monitors and reviews monthly performance objectives with team members.
  • Engages in ongoing strategic planning initiatives.
  • Utilizes available resources to optimize production outputs.
  • Assesses workloads and assigns tasks based on staff and equipment availability.
  • Collaborates with Technicians to troubleshoot and enhance machinery for sustained high output.
  • Ensures daily service level agreements (SLAs) are met using Open Cards and Open OnDemand tools.
  • Champions quality control (QC) initiatives and procedural guidelines within the department.
  • Guides the team in adapting to increased production demands within tight deadlines.
  • Works alongside Matching and Quality departments to ensure completion of daily tasks.
  • Encourages proactive identification of defective materials among team members.
  • Assists the Production Manager with job setup, coordination, and cleanup.
  • Verifies that the quality of outgoing products aligns with COS QC standards.
  • Utilizes scanning technology and proprietary COS software for job check-ins via the QC Check-In tool.
  • Operates and troubleshoots various machines within the department.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of complex machinery and software, maximizing their capabilities.
  • Participates in general machine maintenance and trains associates on proper upkeep techniques.
  • Contributes to new product development and evaluates machine capabilities.
  • Collaborates with other departments to achieve manufacturing objectives.
  • Engages in light maintenance and housekeeping tasks as required.
  • Performs general upkeep of the facility, including waste removal and assistance as needed.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • 3-5 years of experience in machine operation, preferably in a mail production setting.
  • 1-3 years of leadership experience.
  • Proficient understanding of mailing and printing industry terminology.
  • Basic math and reading proficiency.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web browsers and MS Office 2013 applications, including Excel.
  • Planning and personnel management skills are essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs safely.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs in the die-cutting department.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Capacity to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, twist, and bend freely.
