Role Summary:

The Production Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the safe and precise operation of Die-Cutting, Labeling, Tip-On, and/or Inserting machinery. This role employs various proprietary and third-party systems to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. The Production Supervisor collaborates closely with the Production Manager to facilitate the setup and execution of daily operations within the Production Department. This position also provides leadership by distributing workloads and supporting the team in achieving production targets. Given the sensitive nature of the information handled, this role is critical in maintaining the security of proprietary and PHI data in both digital and physical formats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in training both new and existing Production Associates.
  • Educate team members on interpreting job tickets and clarifying associated instructions.
  • Review monthly performance objectives with a team of up to six employees.
  • Engage in ongoing strategic planning initiatives.
  • Utilize available resources effectively to maximize output.
  • Assess workloads and allocate tasks based on staff and machinery availability.
  • Collaborate with Technicians to troubleshoot and enhance machine performance for optimal output.
  • Ensure daily service level agreements (SLAs) are met using Open Cards and Open OnDemand tools.
  • Lead quality control initiatives and procedures within the department.
  • Guide the team in adapting to increased production demands swiftly.
  • Work in tandem with Matching and Quality departments to ensure job completion.
  • Encourage proactive identification of defective materials by the team.
  • Support the Production Manager in job setup, coordination, and cleanup.
  • Verify that the quality of outgoing products aligns with COS quality control standards.
  • Utilize scanning and computer systems to check jobs into proprietary COS software via the QC Check-In tool.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot various departmental machinery.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of complex equipment and software to maximize operational capabilities.
  • Assist with general machine maintenance and train associates on proper upkeep techniques.
  • Participate in new product development and evaluate machine capabilities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve manufacturing objectives.
  • Assist with light maintenance and cleaning tasks as required.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties, including upkeep of the facility and waste removal.
  • Execute other responsibilities as assigned by management.

Educational Background:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of machine operation experience, preferably in a mail production setting.
  • 1-3 years of leadership experience required.
  • Strong understanding of mailing and printing industry terminology.
  • Basic math and reading proficiency required.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate web browsers and MS Office 2013 applications, including Excel.
  • Planning and personnel management skills are essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 70 lbs (specific to die cutting operations).
  • Ability to safely push/pull loads up to 100 lbs.
  • Capacity to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods.
  • Must be able to walk, stoop, kneel, twist, and bend freely.
