Job Summary

Discovery Senior Living is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Activities to join our team. As a key member of our community, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and conducting lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual opportunities for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lifestyle programs that cater to the diverse interests and needs of our residents.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to plan and execute special events and holidays.
  • Recruit and manage a team of volunteers to support activities and events.
  • Provide guidance and support to residents in selecting activities that align with their interests and abilities.
  • Prepare and distribute a calendar of events to keep residents informed and engaged.
  • Develop and maintain a community library and coordinate book clubs and other literary events.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies within budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit the Celebrations Operating Budget for review and approval.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Recreation and Event Coordinators to ensure seamless execution of activities and events.
  • Participate in community in-services and stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and analyze resident surveys to ensure ongoing activities meet resident interests.
  • Plan and coordinate mixed-group activities that promote socialization and community building.
  • Maintain a robust public relations program to promote activities and community relations.
  • Implement and facilitate a volunteer recognition program to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of our volunteers.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Recreation, Education, Gerontology, Social Work, or Adult Education.
  • Three to five years of related experience, with two years of supervisory/management experience.
