The Director of Surgical Services is a key leadership role that oversees the perioperative team, focusing on safe patient care and effective operations management.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and implement solutions to real/potential problems affecting the service
  • Participate in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees to provide ongoing communication
  • Advance the customer experience in Surgical Services
  • Coach subordinates through feedback, critique, and development plans
  • Effectively communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information to staff
  • Facilitate evidence-based employee engagement practices
  • Build strong relationships and networks to deliver organizational and departmental goals
  • Participate in employee and patient rounding to identify and mentor potential future leaders
  • Enforce standards of care for surgical services and develop processes to measure compliance
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing surgical services program to ensure quality patient care
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies, environmental, patient, and personnel safety
  • Oversee a PI program to consistently monitor and evaluate critical aspects of care
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
  • 3 years of experience in a leadership role or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which they practice
  • Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) or Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) preferred
