As a Student Engagement Specialist, you will oversee a group of students identified due to challenges in attendance, academic performance, and behavioral issues. Your role will involve providing comprehensive case management and support to these students, fostering meaningful relationships, and collaborating with other adults in their lives to promote holistic strategies for their development and success.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Implementing strategies such as home visits, collaborating with educators and mental health professionals, and understanding afterschool and out-of-school resources to gain a well-rounded perspective of students' educational, home, and social environments.
  • Building strong relationships with various stakeholders while independently driving initiatives that prioritize student achievement.
  • Analyzing student-level data to assess and report on the effectiveness of interventions for your caseload.
  • Connecting students with necessary support and interventions, maintaining ongoing follow-ups, and establishing relationships with students' families, teachers, and other stakeholders.
  • Utilizing home visits and relationship-building strategies to identify, follow up with, and create intervention plans for students facing attendance issues.
  • Leading case management and overseeing the reintegration process for students returning from suspensions or extended absences.
  • Participating in the Clinical Care team.
  • Facilitating meetings with security personnel and other advocacy associates to review individual student situations and ensure impactful interventions.
  • Employing data systems to monitor student performance, track progress towards goals, and recommend further interventions.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Bilingual - Spanish Speaking.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth and their families.
  • Experience in taking initiative within complex environments and systems.
  • Strong capability to cultivate relationships with students, parents, and educators.
  • Ability to maintain multiple, in-depth relationships with students and adults simultaneously.
  • Experience and comfort in having critical conversations with students that guide them towards realistic goals and next steps.
  • Detail-oriented and data-driven work approach.
  • Flexibility to work evening hours.
