Position Overview:

As a Substation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering expert consulting services, focusing on electrical substation design, project oversight, and operational support. Your responsibilities will include planning and guiding electrical design projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet client expectations and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold and embody the core values of Power System Engineering in all aspects of your work.
  • Provide comprehensive electrical design and consulting services for utility clients, with a focus on substation design and protection systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal guidelines throughout the design process, including engineering design, documentation, procurement, and construction management.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
  • Conduct site visits for inspections and to oversee contractor compliance with project specifications.
  • Perform quality control and technical reviews to ensure adherence to engineering principles and client requirements.
  • Engage in effective communication with various departments to address the needs of regional electric utility clients.
  • Pursue ongoing education and professional development to maintain licensure and enhance expertise.
  • Manage project budgets effectively, controlling costs and resources.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to enhance efficiency and project outcomes.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the utility sector, particularly in electrical substation engineering and design.
  • Professional Engineer license or eligibility for licensure in relevant states.
  • Experience in leading engineering design projects.

Skills:

  • Self-motivated with a strong background in power system planning, protection, and operations.
  • Proficient in software tools such as AutoCAD, MS Excel, and MS Word.
  • Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on customer service and teamwork.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for client meetings, site assessments, and inspections.
