Role Overview:
As a Substation Engineer at PSE, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality consulting services to our clients. Your responsibilities will include electrical substation design, project oversight, system design support, and operational guidance. You will lead the planning and execution of electrical designs, ensuring that projects are completed with precision, on schedule, and within budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold PSE's core values of Relationships, Innovation, and Continuous Improvement in all aspects of your work.
- Provide comprehensive electrical design and technical consulting services for utility clients, focusing on substation design and protection/control systems.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and PSE guidelines throughout the design process, including engineering design, drawing development, procurement, and construction management.
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure the accurate installation of facilities as per design specifications.
- Conduct site visits for inspections and provide oversight to ensure adherence to PSE designs and industry standards.
- Perform quality control and technical reviews of projects, ensuring alignment with engineering principles and client specifications.
- Work closely with other departments to address the needs of regional electric utility clients effectively.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain your Professional Engineering licensure.
- Manage project budgets and resources efficiently.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance operational efficiencies and project outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required.
- A minimum of five years of experience in the utility sector, specifically in the engineering and design of electrical substations.
- Professional Engineer license or eligibility for licensure in relevant states.
- Proven experience in leading design projects.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Self-motivated with expertise in power system planning, protection, design, and operations.
- Proficient in software tools such as AutoCAD, MS Excel, and MS Word.
- Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards and electrical codes is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on customer service and teamwork.
- Willingness to travel as necessary for client meetings, site assessments, and inspections.
