Position Overview

The Trauma Injury Prevention Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing, overseeing, and assessing the delivery of high-quality, safe, and cost-efficient healthcare by all members of the trauma care team. This position is dedicated to the coordination and integration of trauma service enhancement initiatives. Responsibilities are aligned with County, State, and regulatory standards, and include the development, promotion, and execution of injury prevention programs that meet trauma center designation criteria.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Minimum: Education acknowledged by the State of Florida as a prerequisite for Registered Nurse licensure.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum: A minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience in an acute care environment, with a focus on Emergency, Critical Care, or Trauma care. Experience in Quality and Process Improvement is preferred.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:

  • Florida Registered Nurse license, along with American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Preferred certifications include Critical Care, Emergency Nursing, and Case Management.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with Joint Commission Standards, Quality Improvement Processes, and Risk Management.
  • Understanding of Infection Control Surveillance and Universal Precautions.
  • Knowledge of Florida State Department of Health SATC/SAPTRC Approval Standards.
  • Awareness of Palm Beach County Health Care District Trauma Agency Mandates.
  • Active engagement in continuing education and professional organizations to stay updated on practice and regulatory changes.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
