Position Overview

The Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and cost-effective healthcare by overseeing the trauma team’s activities. This position is responsible for the coordination and enhancement of trauma service improvement initiatives, adhering to County, State, and regulatory standards. Additionally, the coordinator is tasked with the development, promotion, and execution of injury prevention programs that align with trauma center designation requirements.

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum: Education recognized by the State of Florida as qualification for Registered Nurse licensure.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Experience:

Minimum: A minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience in an acute care setting, with specific experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Trauma care required. Experience in Quality and Process Improvement is preferred.

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • Florida Registered Nurse license, along with American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Preferred certifications include Critical Care, Emergency Nursing, and Case Management.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Joint Commission Standards, Quality Improvement Processes, and Risk Management.
  • Understanding of Infection Control Surveillance and Universal Precautions.
  • Knowledge of Florida State Department of Health SATC/SAPTRC Approval Standards.
  • Awareness of Palm Beach County Health Care District Trauma Agency Mandates.
  • Active engagement in continuing education and professional organizations to stay updated on practice and regulatory changes.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
