Position Overview

The Trauma Injury Prevention Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing, supervising, and assessing the quality and safety of healthcare services provided by the trauma team. This position is pivotal in coordinating and integrating initiatives aimed at improving trauma services. Responsibilities are aligned with County, State, and regulatory standards. Additionally, this role encompasses the development, promotion, and execution of injury prevention initiatives that meet the requirements for trauma center designation.

Qualifications

Educational Background:

Minimum: Education acknowledged by the State of Florida as a prerequisite for Registered Nurse licensure.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Professional Experience:

Minimum: A minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience in an acute care environment, with a focus on Emergency, Critical Care, or Trauma care. Experience in Quality and Process Improvement is preferred.

Required Certifications:

  • Florida Registered Nurse license, along with American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Preferred certifications include Critical Care, Emergency Nursing, and Case Management.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Joint Commission Standards, Quality Improvement Processes, and Risk Management.
  • Understanding of Infection Control Surveillance and Universal Precautions.
  • Knowledge of Florida State Department of Health SATC/SAPTRC Approval Standards.
  • Awareness of Palm Beach County Health Care District Trauma Agency Mandates.
  • Active engagement in continuing education and professional organizations to stay updated on practices and regulatory changes.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and judgment when handling confidential information.
