DESCRIPTION

As a vital member of the Clerk of Court's office, you will be responsible for managing and processing legal documents related to civil and criminal cases. Your role will involve:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducting data entry using specialized software applications, which includes scanning, indexing, and recording court case details and legal documents. You will also audit and verify data for precision while maintaining organized records and filing systems.
  • Handling financial transactions related to court fees, fines, and other collections, ensuring accurate processing of funds.
  • Preparing and managing case files, including assigning case numbers, recording important dates, and updating files as necessary. You will retrieve and organize case files for court proceedings.
  • Docketing various court actions, reviewing submitted documents for completeness, and entering data into the departmental system for further processing.
  • Providing assistance and information to court personnel, attorneys, and the public, while interpreting legal guidelines and utilizing reference materials as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. (Proof of education will be required upon job offer.)

Experience: A minimum of two years in administrative legal support, clerical duties, or related fields.

Preferred: An Associate's degree.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to independently execute a comprehensive range of municipal code enforcement and compliance tasks.
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting, and applying relevant codes, regulations, and procedures.
  • Experience in identifying violations of codes and ordinances.
  • Capability to enforce laws and regulations impartially and efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to address inquiries and complaints effectively.
  • Familiarity with the geography of Augusta-Richmond County and its codes.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and other standard office equipment.

  • Data Utilization: Ability to analyze and classify data accurately.
  • Human Interaction: Provide guidance and interpretation regarding procedures and standards.
  • Equipment: Operate office machinery and tools effectively.
