Job Overview

Position Summary: The Certified Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering quality patient care by assisting with clinical tasks, managing appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid Medical Assistant certification, be a Registered Medical Assistant, or hold a current LPN license. CPR certification is required within six months of employment.

Experience: Previous experience with electronic medical records and customer service is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support healthcare providers during examinations and medical procedures.
  • Execute provider orders with precision and care.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and medical equipment.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Document patient information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record System.
  • Utilize office equipment, including EKG machines and nebulizers, following operational guidelines.
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for medical evaluations and procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow by assisting in various office areas as needed.
  • Timely documentation and reporting of laboratory results.
  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, and complete orders in compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients both in person and over the phone, ensuring understanding.
  • Prepare necessary forms and paperwork for provider review.
  • Foster positive relationships with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members.
  • Exhibit professional conduct and appearance in alignment with industry standards.
  • Answer phone calls professionally, assisting callers with their inquiries.
  • Prioritize and return patient calls following office procedures.
  • Support operational efficiency by adhering to policies and suggesting improvements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records systems.
  • Proficient typing skills.
  • Ability to recognize urgent medical situations.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail is essential.

Equipment Utilized: Basic office equipment such as computers, printers, and fax machines, as well as medical devices including EKG machines and nebulizers.

Work Environment: A well-lit medical office setting.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs.

Position involves sitting 15% of the time and standing/walking 85% of the time.
