Job Overview

Position Summary: The role involves assisting patients by providing a warm welcome, managing appointment schedules, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid Medical Assistant certification, be a Registered Medical Assistant, or hold a current LPN license. CPR certification is required within six months of employment.

Experience Requirements: Previous experience with computer systems, particularly electronic medical records, is essential. A background in customer service is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support healthcare providers effectively during examinations and medical procedures.
  • Execute provider orders with precision and care.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Document patient information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record System.
  • Utilize office equipment in accordance with operational guidelines, including EKG machines, autoclaves, and blood pressure monitors.
  • Prepare patients and examination areas appropriately for various medical procedures.
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow by assisting in various capacities as needed.
  • Record and communicate lab results promptly and accurately.
  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, and complete necessary orders in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols consistently.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear information both in person and over the phone.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for provider review and signature.
  • Foster positive relationships with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members.
  • Exhibit professional conduct and appearance in alignment with industry standards.
  • Answer phone calls courteously, identifying oneself and assisting callers efficiently.
  • Prioritize and respond to patient inquiries according to established office procedures.
  • Support operational efficiency by adhering to policies and suggesting improvements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records systems.
  • Proficient typing skills.
  • Ability to recognize urgent medical situations.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Equipment Utilized: The position requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and fax machines, as well as medical devices including EKG machines, autoclaves, and blood pressure cuffs.

Work Environment: The role is situated in a well-lit medical office setting.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 10 lbs.

Position involves sitting 15% of the time and standing/walking 85% of the time.
