Job Summary:

As a Probation Officer I with GeorgiaGov, you will play a critical role in supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of youth offenders into society. Under the supervision of experienced professionals, you will investigate, counsel, and provide continuous supervision to assist youth offenders in their social and personal adjustment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aid in developing plans to help youth offenders adjust to life outside of correctional facilities.
  • Inform youth offenders of the requirements of their conditional release, including office visits, restitution payments, and educational and employment stipulations.
  • Conduct investigations to assess the level of readjustment to society of youth offenders, reviewing background histories, court files, police reports, and other relevant documents.
  • Testify in court as needed, providing expert testimony on matters related to clients, such as sentencing, trials, pleas, and violations of probation conditions.
  • Monitor and conduct surveillance of youth offenders to ensure compliance with probation conditions.
  • Provide assistance to youth offenders in matters related to detainees, sentences in other jurisdictions, and writs.
  • Perform arrests of youth offenders who have violated the terms of their release, in accordance with statutory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must possess and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within the first six months of employment.
