About this Opportunity:

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Store Assistant Manager to join our team. As a key member of our retail operations, you will be responsible for supervising and participating in the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and participate in the cashier activities, ensuring that all customers are treated in a polite and friendly manner, and assist Store Clerks in ringing-up, recording, and receipting sales.
  • Assist customers in locating items and prices, and explain store policy to ensure compliance.
  • Supervise and participate in maintaining the store displays, arranging, rotating, and re-stocking displayed items to ensure the displays remain in a plentiful, neat, and orderly manner for customer convenience and store attractiveness.
  • Determine appropriate prices for merchandise, ensuring quick turnover of stock while also bringing a fair and reasonable price for The Salvation Army.
  • Supervise the unloading of incoming donations in the warehouse, ensuring that items are properly sorted, stocked, and/or discarded in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, maintain, and file various store reports, records, forms, etc., including community service records, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of the same.
  • Assume additional responsibilities in the absence of the Family Store Manager.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year working in a retail store, preferably a Salvation Army store with some experience supervising the work of co-workers
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

The ability to meet attendance requirements, stand for extended periods of time, and perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
