Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Code Enforcement Officer, Senior to join our team at the City of Augusta GA. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for enforcing local zoning codes and ordinances, conducting investigations, and providing technical assistance to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce local zoning codes and ordinances through site visits, inspections, and investigations.
  • Conduct research and provide technical assistance to the public on code-related matters.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of enforcement activities, including case files and documentation.
  • Testify in court as needed and prepare related documents and reports.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED or Associate's degree in Zoning, Planning, or related field of study.
  • Three years of work experience, including at least two years of code enforcement or investigation/inspection work at a level comparable to a Code Enforcement Officer.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • International Property Maintenance Code, International Residential Code, or any other ICC-related certification.
  • Proficiency in operating computer and standard office equipment.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to speak at public meetings.
Working Conditions

This position requires staff call-up in an emergency situation and more than 50% travel from office to other locations.
