Job Summary

The Virginia Section American Water Works Association is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Executive Director to lead our organization. As the chief executive officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic vision and direction of the organization, ensuring its continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the organization's strategic plan, aligning it with the goals and objectives of the Board of Directors.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the management team, ensuring the effective execution of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including members, sponsors, and partners.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs that support the organization's mission and goals.
  • Manage the organization's budget, ensuring financial stability and growth.
  • Represent the organization at conferences, meetings, and other events, promoting its mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance and decision-making.
  • Ensure the organization's compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
Requirements
  • 15+ years of experience in a senior leadership role, preferably in a non-profit or association environment.
  • Proven track record of success in developing and implementing strategic plans, leading teams, and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen, with experience in budgeting, financial management, and fundraising.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in a relevant field, such as non-profit management or association leadership.
  • Experience working in a regulatory environment, with knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
