Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Associate General Counsel with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience to collaborate with the Flix North America legal team. This multifaceted role will oversee the legal aspects concerning data privacy, compliance related to Flix's digital sales platform and associated technologies, as well as relevant transactions, agreements, and policies. Additionally, the position will support various corporate legal matters, including governance, litigation, and contract negotiation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Address legal issues pertaining to data privacy, including compliance initiatives, policy formulation and updates, training, and guidance on process enhancements and project execution.
  • Provide legal counsel to Marketing, Sales, Business Development, and IT departments on intricate legal and regulatory challenges.
  • Draft and revise terms and conditions, privacy policies, notices, consents, and disclosures.
  • Offer advice on corporate governance matters and manage entity compliance for Flix's North American operations.
  • Handle inquiries and concerns from customers and other stakeholders regarding privacy-related issues.
  • Assist in managing complex litigation cases.
  • Engage in contract drafting and negotiations with clients and suppliers.
  • Communicate with regulatory bodies as required.
  • Effectively manage external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Perform additional legal tasks as assigned by the General Counsel or requested by internal teams.
Candidate Profile
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a legal practice, either in-house or with a reputable law firm.
  • Active legal license in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Proven ability to provide practical and innovative legal advice to businesses.
  • Strategic thinker with the capacity to assess potential risks to the organization, including economic, legal, and reputational factors.
  • Self-driven, capable of working independently, and ready to take on significant responsibilities aligned with experience.
  • Experience in advising on data privacy issues or managing compliance efforts, preferably within an in-house legal environment, along with familiarity with a broad spectrum of privacy laws and regulations.
  • Adept at thriving in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with executive management and stakeholders.
  • Strong writing skills and proficiency in drafting legal documents and policies.
  • Experience in project management is a plus.
