Position Overview:

The Corporate Counsel will primarily provide legal support to HITT's operations on the West Coast and in the Central region. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, with expertise in contract drafting, negotiations, and dispute resolution. Strong communication skills and a solid work ethic are essential, along with a willingness to grow and tackle challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft, negotiate, and review commercial construction contracts, subcontracts, and union agreements.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to offer legal guidance on various AEC-related matters, including contract interpretation, disputes, compliance, and employment issues.
  • Manage outside legal counsel and provide support for litigation matters.
  • Respond to legal inquiries and subpoenas as necessary.
  • Assist in tracking and reporting departmental activities and performance metrics.
  • Develop corporate policies and procedures.
  • Lead or support companywide initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Conduct training sessions on legal topics for company personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • 3-6 years of legal experience, with a focus on construction law; in-house counsel experience in the AEC sector is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly understand legal and business issues, manage a high workload, and provide practical legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
