Position Overview:
The International Principal Aviation Compliance Inspector (Air Carrier Maintenance) serves as the main liaison between designated foreign operators, regulatory agencies, organizations, pilots, designees, and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent is accountable for ensuring that the assigned entities adhere to federal aviation regulations as outlined in 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and associated directives concerning operational programs.

General Requirements:
To qualify for this role, candidates must not have more than two separate incidents of Federal aviation regulations violations within the past five years. A valid State driver's license is required, along with fluency in the English language. Candidates must not have any chemical dependencies or drug abuse issues that could affect job performance. A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

Medical Requirements:
Applicants must be physically capable of performing the duties of the Aviation Compliance Inspector role safely and efficiently. The following medical criteria must be met:
- Good distant vision in each eye, with the ability to read printed materials without strain (glasses and contact lenses are acceptable);
- Ability to hear conversational speech (hearing aids are permitted);
- No physical conditions that would pose a risk to themselves or others while flying as passengers in various aircraft.

For positions requiring participation in aircraft operations, candidates must:
- Hold a valid second-class medical certificate as per FAA regulations;
- Successfully pass recurrent medical examinations as mandated by the FAA.

For candidates not requiring a valid second-class medical certificate, documentation from a board-certified physician certifying that they meet the minimum medical standards will be required upon tentative selection.

Specialized Experience:
Applicants for the Aviation Compliance Inspector (Air Carrier Maintenance) positions must possess specialized experience that includes:
- Maintenance and repair experience of airframes, power plants, and systems of multi-engine aircraft exceeding 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight under an airworthiness maintenance and inspection program;
- Aircraft maintenance experience in a repair station, air carrier or airline repair facility, military repair facility, or local, state, or Federal governmental agency;
- Experience in maintaining and repairing airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems with responsibilities for certifying airworthiness;
- Relevant aircraft maintenance work experience within the last three years;
- A valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with airframe and power plant ratings.

To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate in their application at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 level.

Additional Information:
Specialized experience is defined as experience that has provided the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience managing 14 CFR part 145 Repair Stations is also considered.

For those transferring between specialties at the same grade level, it is strongly encouraged to complete the appropriate Qualifications Assessment Tool (QAT) check sheet and upload it with the resume.

Note:
Recency of specialized experience is waived for current and former FAA employees in the 1825 series. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.
