This position serves as a key planner responsible for various airport and aviation planning activities for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating planning plans, studies, and reports, as well as applying planning design principles and gathering and analyzing data from various sources.
Key Responsibilities- Review and evaluate airport and aviation planning documents, including airport master plans and Airport Layout Plans.
- Coordinate with experienced planners and managers to ensure compliance with requirements and regulations.
- Perform a combination of routine and multiple and varying assignments under the general direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional.
- Act as an individual contributor and/or member of a team for projects/programs within a defined area of responsibility.
- Apply experience and detailed knowledge to plan and accomplish assignments.
- Review and provide recommendations for modification of standards requests to management and/or RO.
- Conduct project justifications and eligibility analyses to ensure projects are ready for grant funding.
- Provide recommendations for grant funding and programming.
- Maintain project status using the Office of Airports database system (SOAR).
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- This position has a positive education requirement. Transcript(s) required.
- Successful completion of a security investigation will be required.
- In addition to the basic education requirement, to qualify for this position at the FV-G level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-F, FG/GS-5-9 levels.
- Specialized experience for the FV-G level: Experience in evaluating planning plans, studies, or reports.
- To qualify for this position at the FV-H level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G or FG/GS-10/11 levels.
- Specialized experience for the FV-H level: Experience in evaluating airport planning plans, studies, or reports. Experience in applying planning design principles. Experience gathering and analyzing data from a variety of sources.
- To qualify for this position at the FV-I level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-12 level.
- Specialized experience for the FV-I level: Experience developing or approving airport layout plans. Experience developing or reviewing planning consultant contracts and scopes of work. Experience providing advisory and technical guidance to the public on airport planning, airspace, programming, airport design standards, contract administration, and in general, on all aspects of airport project implementation.
