Position Overview

Role Summary

This role entails collaborating closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other executive leaders to formulate financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting frameworks. The Vice President of Financial Strategy ensures adherence to legal and regulatory standards for all accounting and financial reporting operations. This position also supervises cost and general accounting, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and risk management. The ideal candidate will proactively propose solutions related to financial reporting, profitability, control enhancements, technology-driven efficiencies, and team structure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver strategic direction for Financial Strategy in alignment with all Meeder business lines
  • Contribute to the creation of new business opportunities and perform profitability analyses for current business lines and products
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to design, implement, and manage compensation incentives, commissions, and salaries
  • Engage with departmental leaders to coordinate, implement, and communicate budgeting processes across all divisions
  • Lead the development, management, and enhancement of operational and financial controls and procedures
  • Generate, analyze, and present monthly financial reports and forecasts to senior management
  • Establish and maintain a system of internal controls to protect the organization’s financial assets, minimize risk, and ensure consistent operational performance reporting
  • Oversee annual independent audits, third-party valuations, and tax return filings
  • Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and banking operations to ensure sufficient cash flow, revenue recognition, and expense recording
  • Guide, mentor, and develop the Financial Strategy team

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related technical field
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial management or leadership roles
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and corporate taxation
  • Experience in the Financial Services sector
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Prior experience in leading, developing, and nurturing a team of direct and/or indirect reports
  • CPA designation preferred
