About This Position:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at the University Club of Santa Barbara. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, development, and daily execution of all dishes.
• Lead kitchen staff during service, ensuring food is prepared to the highest quality and in a timely manner.
• Supervise and train line cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation while maintaining club standards.
• Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations in the kitchen.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef on special events, seasonal menus, and member requests.
• Contribute to maintaining a positive, creative, and organized kitchen environment.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in a similar role, ideally in a high-end restaurant or club setting.
• Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of food preparation techniques, flavor profiles, and presentation.
• Proven leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen equipment maintenance.
• Experience with menu planning, food costing, and inventory management.
• Culinary degree or certification preferred, but not required.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
