Pharmaceutical Care Coordinator

Position Overview
The role of the Clinical Pharmacist Specialist within Cardinal Health is integral to the effective management of pharmacy services in a hospital setting. This position is focused on ensuring the safe and efficient distribution of medications to patients, while also providing expert guidance to healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilizes advanced knowledge of pharmaceuticals to validate physician prescriptions through the pharmacy management system, ensuring accuracy in medication dispensing.
- Oversees the activities of Pharmacy Technicians, ensuring compliance with state regulations and providing mentorship on complex medication orders.
- Modifies medication dosages in accordance with established clinical protocols, ensuring optimal therapeutic outcomes for patients.
- Educates patients regarding their medications, emphasizing proper usage and potential side effects, particularly for those on multiple therapies.
- Manages inventory and narcotic compliance, including regular audits and documentation to uphold pharmacy standards.
- Collaborates with nursing and medical staff to clarify prescriptions and gather necessary information for medication management.
- Assists in maintaining pharmacy accreditation and implements new operational procedures as required.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.
Qualifications
- PharmD or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
- Active pharmacist license in good standing.
- IV certification is preferred.
- Experience in a hospital pharmacy environment is advantageous.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call shifts.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Strong customer service orientation and proficiency in pharmacy information systems.

Compensation
