Position Summary:
This role is essential in serving as a bridge between patients, their families, and the hospital personnel, effectively representing the administration of the hospital. The position provides a channel through which patients can address concerns, issues, and unmet expectations.

The individual will assist patients in understanding hospital policies and procedures while actively pursuing resolutions to identified issues and concerns from patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily patient interactions, manage special requests, and address grievances from patients and families.
  • Act as the primary liaison among patients, their families, hospital staff, and physicians to resolve patient-related concerns.
  • Investigate and coordinate solutions for patient grievances or concerns raised by patients and families.
  • Make informed decisions regarding patient reimbursement concerns and adjust balances based on customer experiences.

Manage various projects by collaborating with relevant staff, analyzing data, overseeing project budgets, developing solutions, implementing plans, and monitoring progress on initiatives such as:

  • Patient Station
  • VIP Program
  • Service Recovery
  • Patient Relations Volunteers
  • Customer Experience Tracking

Provide interpreter services as required.

Serve as a role model by conducting customer service training, orientation, and managing the complaint resolution process while guiding staff to enhance their skills.

Identify grievances that meet hospital and regulatory standards, coordinate research, analyze data, and ensure effective resolution.

Oversee and direct the activities of the Patient Relations Volunteer staff.

Ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards, while managing time, supplies, productivity, and service quality within budgetary constraints.

Encourage personal professional growth by fulfilling mandatory and continuing education requirements, supporting departmental goals that contribute to the organization's success, and serving as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff.

Demonstrate a commitment to caring for every community member by fostering compassionate and personalized experiences. Exemplify Memorial Hermann's service standards by delivering safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
