Retail Analyst II

Position Overview:

The Retail Analyst will play a pivotal role in driving growth with essential retail partners by managing sales, shipment, margin, and inventory strategies through comprehensive analysis and projections. This role requires close collaboration with sales teams, demand planning, operations, and external retail partners to meet financial and organizational objectives. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee financial performance across various retail accounts.
  2. Negotiate pre-season sales, inventory, markdown, and margin strategies with key retail partners.
  3. Conduct monthly forecasting updates and lead regular meetings to align expectations based on budgetary performance.
  4. Manage quarterly margin settlement processes to meet financial targets and validate retailer records for claims and allowances.
  5. Analyze sales performance using data and current market trends.
  6. Evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify sales and shipment risks and opportunities.
  7. Develop and implement strategic plans with key partners, ensuring clear action points to mitigate risks and leverage resources.
  8. Create and manage detailed projections at the style/color level to enhance forecasting collaboration.
  9. Facilitate quarterly reviews of assortment productivity to inform future growth strategies.
  10. Identify market opportunities and risks by analyzing historical data and current trends.
  11. Prepare seasonal strategies to align with division and brand objectives.
  12. Deliver presentations on seasonal strategies to senior management.
  13. Establish sales and shipment targets by retailer and product category.
  14. Engage in market appointments for business reviews and facilitate purchasing processes.
  15. Drive key initiatives through analytics and structured reporting to quantify results.
  16. Build effective relationships with internal and external partners.
  17. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

Experience:

  • 5-7+ years in wholesale planning.
  • Experience with national chain or department stores is advantageous.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Arts or Science.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of retail mathematics and financial metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly.
  • Proficient in managing multiple data sources.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and collaboratively.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic environment with high levels of ambiguity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Internal: Collaborate with Sales & Planning leadership, Planners, Account Executives, Demand Planners, Merchants, and Marketing Partners.

External: Engage with Retail Merchants, Buyers, Planners, and other key stakeholders.
