Role Overview:
The Business Systems Analyst II acts as a crucial partner for various functional teams within the university.
This role involves direct collaboration with business stakeholders to gather, clarify, and translate business needs into comprehensive documentation and conceptual designs.
The analyst will work alongside IT professionals to identify and implement innovative solutions to complex challenges. This collaborative environment fosters creativity and the exchange of ideas.Specializing in a specific functional area, the analyst will also provide consultative support and backup to fellow business analysts.
This position requires effective leadership in meetings, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.The Business Systems Analyst will manage projects of moderate complexity that have operational and potentially strategic implications for various departments.
Additionally, this role may involve project management responsibilities for smaller initiatives as workload permits.Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with functional partners, serving as a liaison between IT teams and assigned business units.
- Engage actively with business offices and stakeholders to comprehend their operations, objectives, and challenges.
- Translate user requirements into business specifications and collaborate with development teams to ensure alignment with business needs.
- Work with subject matter experts and developers to analyze current business processes and systems, gathering information to create and document desired new processes and applications.
- Document existing and new business processes, resources, and dependencies.
- Conduct gap analyses and assist in identifying viable solutions to meet stakeholder objectives.
- Design and implement metrics to evaluate business process efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with end users, Project Managers, and technical teams to develop solutions that balance user and system requirements.
- Identify and document business and system requirements and use cases to support project coordination.
- Manage projects that require resource coordination and technical or process analysis.
- Develop project documentation and plans to effectively coordinate assigned projects.
- Work with users, IT staff, and vendors to schedule application changes, enhancements, and implementations.
- Perform business case analyses and provide consultancy to departments submitting project requests.
- Foster positive relationships with staff and vendors, addressing issues in a timely and tactful manner.
- Partner with functional users to identify solutions and assess the costs and benefits of implementing new or enhanced processes or systems.
- Participate in and occasionally lead team sessions.
- Explore new technologies, tools, and techniques, collaborating with the team and leadership to evolve the technology stack.
- Support larger projects as assigned, providing analytical support.
- Produce specification documents for significant initiatives that facilitate discovery, development, and user acceptance activities.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience.
Preferred:
Three years of experience in a higher education setting, experience in a collaborative team environment, strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, effective communication skills in both oral and written forms, excellent facilitation and presentation abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
