Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Marin Community Clinics. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician, Physician Assistant, and/or Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Escort patients to the exam room and interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs.
  • Administer patient screeners and adhere to care guidelines, including ACEs, PHQ, Columbia, and others.
  • Accurately and promptly record information in Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Upload ultrasounds, patient photos, and screen questionnaires in EHR.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments in accordance with department policy and OSHA guidelines.
  • Work on in-box tasks sent by Provider or other members of the care team for follow-up.
  • Arrange and coordinate video visits between providers and patients using a telehealth visit platform and troubleshoot any technical issues with patients.
  • Maintain medication supplies, checking for expiration dates, and keeping exam rooms stocked.
  • Operate electrocardiograph (EKG) and other equipment to administer routine CLIA waived diagnostic tests and/or call medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests.
  • Give injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.
  • Follow policies and procedures, including universal precautions as defined by OSHA's guidelines on Bloodborne Pathogens and Hazardous Materials standards.
  • Participate in and adhere to Care Team processes and procedures.
  • Work to demonstrate MCC's mission and values in all aspects of job performance.
  • Maintain confidentiality in strict accordance with department policy and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings, training, and educational programs.
  • Perform administrative duties, including checking eligibility, verifying demographics, assisting patients with filling out necessary paperwork, and making up follow-up appointments.
  • Help manage provider schedules, patient flow, and provide wait time updates.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant educational program.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification from an accredited organization.
  • Completion of an externship program prior to graduation of Medical Assistant program desired.
  • A minimum of 0-6 months of Medical Assistant work experience post-graduating from Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Prior experience working with under-served communities in a community health clinic environment highly desirable.
