Key Responsibilities

The Bakery Manager is accountable for the overall success of the Bakery Department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing daily baking operations, production, and presentation of bakery items.
  • Monitoring product quality and consistency, managing inventory, and adhering to budgetary guidelines.
  • Assessing department conditions and operations to identify strengths and areas for enhancement; implementing improved practices and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards, proper food handling protocols, sanitation, and productivity benchmarks.
  • Managing the ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage processes effectively.
  • Executing merchandise rotation and display construction.
  • Handling department inventory, pricing accuracy, merchandising, labor management, and other operational tasks in accordance with company standards.
  • Planning and ordering strategically to optimize sales and profitability.

Team Leadership

Engage and mentor team members through coaching, constructive feedback, and personalized development discussions. Participate in the bi-annual performance review process and make recommendations for merit increases.

Regularly attend and contribute to in-store meetings.

Recruit, hire, and collaborate with the Store Manager on promotion and transfer decisions.

Exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns and document corrective actions when necessary, working with business and HR partners to manage performance effectively.

Maximize productivity and efficiency by creating and adjusting staff schedules as needed.

Communicate standards, expectations, policy updates, and product knowledge to team members.

Lead a collaborative team dedicated to delivering the highest quality products, exceptional service, and an outstanding customer experience.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Bakery Manager position at Sprouts Farmers Market, candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years old with a minimum of 2 years of experience in retail grocery.
  • Demonstrate reliability and flexibility in scheduling, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exhibit a friendly demeanor and a positive attitude towards both team members and customers.
  • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Be capable of performing general housekeeping duties in the department and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Have the ability to operate various kitchen equipment and accurately weigh and label products.
  • Be physically able to stand for extended periods and lift items as required.
  • Adhere to all safety, health, and regulatory standards, maintaining a valid Food Handlers permit.
  • Possess a working knowledge of financial reports and sales metrics.
