Job Title: Associate Dean of University Partnership Schools

Join the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as an Associate Dean of University Partnership Schools, a key leadership position within the School of Education and Information Studies (Ed&IS). About the Role

The Associate Dean for University Partnership Schools will oversee the management and operation of the three University Consortium of Schools (Geffen Academy, Lab School, and Early Care Education) and maintain research connections with the two UCLA LAUSD Community Schools (Mann UCLA Community School and RFK UCLA Community School). This position requires strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as a commitment to inclusiveness and diversity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic direction for curriculum that aligns with the mission of each individual school.
  • Stay abreast of infant-grade 12 educational innovation and advancements across the global educational societies to bring new ideas and learning initiatives to the UCLA University Consortium of Schools.
  • Serve as the delegated dean authority for all academic and staff positions within the infant-grade 12 schools.
  • Seek opportunities to advance the mission and vision of the University Consortium of Schools and strengthen the connection with communities.
  • Establish and facilitate coordinated review and updates of program standards across all schools.
  • Provide supervision and support to heads of schools and coordinate policies to include processes for conflict resolution and potential termination of noncompliant families, faculty, and staff.
  • Compose and manage performance evaluations for all direct reports.
  • Provide consultation to the heads of schools in the development of policies, practices, and quality programs across all sites of learning.
  • Monitor and advise Ed&IS and campus leadership on relations between UCLA and state, other governmental, and regulatory agencies.
  • Work closely with heads of schools to ensure enrollment goals are met and ensure adequate timelines and deadlines related to enrollment deposits are aligned with neighboring schools.
  • Periodically review tuition rates to ensure fiscal health of the schools.
Requirements
  • A terminal or top degree in the appointee's field (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., M.D., D.D.S., D.V.M., J.D., or the highest degree commonly expected for appointment in the activity).
  • 10 years of experience in educational leadership in early childhood-grade 12 or higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, demonstrating strong skills in leadership, communication, collaboration, and a commitment to inclusiveness and diversity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood-grade 12 educational regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience with organizations related to early care, primary, and secondary educational certification and licensing.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a multi-grade educational organization.
  • Experience working in leadership within community school environments.
  • Refined understanding of child development in educational settings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational practices grounded in empirical research, academic rigor, intellectual curiosity, and development and fostering of social and relational skills among students.
  • Understanding of the educational landscape in Los Angeles.
  • Excellent leadership and facilitation skills with emphasis on collaboration and the ability to maintain and establish working relationships with individuals at all levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures preferred.
