The University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join its School of Dentistry team. As a key member of the development team, you will play a critical role in advancing the school's mission and goals through strategic fundraising efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive major gifts strategy to secure significant funding for the School of Dentistry's academic priorities.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, and faculty, to identify and cultivate major gift prospects.
- Collaborate with the development team to plan and execute special events, campaigns, and other fundraising initiatives.
- Work closely with the dean and senior faculty to understand the school's strategic priorities and develop fundraising strategies to support them.
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of development staff to support fundraising efforts.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the school's academic programs, research initiatives, and clinical services to effectively communicate the value of supporting the School of Dentistry.
- Prepare and present compelling cases for support to donors, including proposals, reports, and other fundraising materials.
- Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals and objectives.
- Minimum of three years of fundraising experience, preferably in a higher education or healthcare setting.
- Proven track record of securing major gifts, with a strong understanding of donor motivations and behaviors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, practices, and technologies, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
