Environmental Remediation Project Leader

The Project Manager will oversee field operations related to the Remedial Construction Service Area, reporting directly to the Service Area Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel requirements (up to 100% & Company vehicle provided)
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Commit to 8+ hours per day, up to 6 days a week.
  • Participate in project initiation meetings.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies and administrative guidelines.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record and comply with vehicle usage protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with established health and safety regulations, including site-specific requirements.
  • Complete all necessary training.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a full-face respirator (clean shave required).
  • Report all incidents of injury, property damage, accidental releases, and near misses.
  • Present a professional appearance.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

ESSENTIAL MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement Company Policies.
  • Assist in selecting and procuring vendors, equipment, and subcontractors for upcoming projects.
  • Act as Safety Officer on-site.
  • Document daily safety meetings.
  • Assess skills, assign tasks, and motivate project team members.
  • Ensure public and private utility locates are completed and marked before work begins.
  • Execute project objectives as defined by the scope of work, specifications, and health and safety plans.
  • Communicate current project status and upcoming needs to the Project Manager or Service Area Manager.
  • Prepare project daily reports.
  • Assist the Project Manager or Service Area Manager in developing client invoices.
  • Manage projects within schedule and budget constraints as defined by the Project Manager or Service Area Manager.
  • Maintain communication with client field representatives.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and vehicles are routinely inspected, properly maintained, and deficiencies addressed.
  • Keep the shop organized and clean.
  • Identify new business opportunities through relationships with existing clients.
  • Explore cross-selling opportunities with other service areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Years of experience in construction.
  • Years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Years of experience in environmental remediation.
  • Combination of experience and education that meets minimum requirements may be considered.
  • Knowledge of remedial construction techniques, including UST closure projects, dig & haul projects, treatment system installations, soil mixing, plant decommissioning, and demolition.
  • Familiarity with OSHA construction standards and ability to interpret regulations and guidance.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex construction challenges.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Professional writing abilities.
  • Understanding of general engineering principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret Gantt Chart-style project schedules.
  • Ability to read and understand project drawings and notes.
  • Experience in negotiating and procuring cost-effective resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Ability to manage out-of-scope work and develop change order costs.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Experience in developing load lists, field instructions, and securing travel/lodging for jobs.
  • Participation in client pre-construction meetings.
  • Experience with bid opportunities, including site visits, production estimates, and obtaining supplier quotations.
  • Ability to delegate to and manage Field Supervisors, Field Technicians, and Heavy Equipment Operators in executing projects with limited supervision.
  • Mentorship of Field Supervisors, Field Technicians, and Heavy Equipment Operators.
  • Experience in managing jobs with an annual gross revenue of $2.5M.
