Job Summary

The Environmental Project Manager Trainee is an on-the-job training position that develops Project Managers for Waste Management's Sustainability Services team. This role is part of an 8-month training program on-site in Greenfield, IN, where you will learn to plan and manage the work of onsite personnel, serve as liaison between client and vendors in relation to service issues and contract management, and maintain pre-established standards for safety and environmental issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Successfully complete the Associate Project Manager curriculum.
  • Attend and participate in all mandatory group training sessions.
  • Develop a working knowledge of all aspects of the day-to-day onsite sustainability operations, including the storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous/non-hazardous wastes and other related services following federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Learn to effectively manage site team members, coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, and consult with clients to identify, design, and implement cost-saving opportunities and proposals.
  • Develop proficiency in ensuring compliance with client and government regulations by performing necessary inspections and reporting.
  • Learn to administer client and vendor financial obligations, including invoicing, reporting, and contracts.
  • Develop a strong understanding and dedication to the WM Safety Program and promote a culture of safety among site team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED and four years of relevant work experience.
  • No prior work experience (in addition to education requirement).
  • Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire customer-specific drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements.
Work Environment

This role requires the ability to use motor coordination with finger dexterity, exert physical effort in handling objects greater than 50 pounds, and be exposed to physical occupational risks, as well as physical environment elements such as dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary for this position is $60,000, with a 10% annual target bonus.
